Effects of ionized brackish water and polyacrylamide application on infiltration characteristics and improving water retention and reducing soil salinity

There is an urgent need for brackish groundwater-based irrigation methods to be developed saline soils that are effective, economically advantageous, and environmentally friendly. The use of both ionized water polyacrylamide (PAM) might provide such a method. long-term can lead the secondary salinization soil and, as consequence, restrict development agricultural economy. Here, we conducted one-dimensional vertical infiltration experiments examine effects PAM on characteristics. result indicated retention first increased then decreased with in application rates. maximum was obtained 0.04% treatment. Soil storage under highest 5.1% higher compared non-ionized at rate 0.04%. treatment improved desalinization efficiency by 2.3% Thus, effective improving characteristics salt transport permit safe groundwater irrigation.
